Question

How do you respond to a harsh senior-banker hypothetical like 'What do you do if your MD shouts at you at 2 a.m.?'

Answer

Show realism without sounding submissive or dramatic.

  1. Acknowledge that high-pressure situations happen in banking.
  2. Separate tone from substance.
  3. Fix the issue first.
  4. Reflect later if the interaction needs follow-up.

'In the moment, I would focus on the substance: what needs to be fixed, by when, and what output the MD needs. I would not respond emotionally at 2 a.m. If I made a mistake, I would own it and correct it. If the tone was excessive but the work issue was real, I would still solve the work first and, if needed, follow up later in a calmer setting.'

maturity, pressure tolerance, and ability to preserve relationships while protecting output quality.
