What are 'good questions to ask the interviewer' at the end of an IB interview?

Categories of very good questions:

• Sector/market-specific: 'What do you see as the most important shift in M&A over the next 12 months?' Signals market awareness.
• Mentor trajectory: 'What was your most formative learning experience as an analyst/associate?' Personal, signals a learning focus.
• Specific deal experience: 'Can you tell me more about [deal X] that you worked on recently?' (When you know it from league tables/news.) Signals research.
• Team dynamics: 'What does a typical week look like for a first-year analyst on your team?' Practical, helps set expectations.
• Intern/hire conversion: 'What does the transition from internship to full-time look like on your team?' For an internship interview. Weak questions: 'How high is the pay?' (off-tone), 'What are the hours?' (sounds like a complaint), 'How do I get promoted?' (too generic).
