Module IV· Competing Offers & Salary FramingIntermediate
Question
When do you mention competing offers proactively, and when only on direct question?
Answer
Mention proactively only when timing matters. For example, if you have an offer deadline and need this bank to accelerate a decision, raise it professionally near the end of the process.
Wait for a direct question when
- It is a first round.
- The other process is vague.
- Mentioning it would sound like leverage rather than logistics.
Good proactive framing
'One process point: I have an offer deadline next Friday. This bank is a top choice for me, so I wanted to be transparent on timing in case there is any possibility of aligning decision timelines.'
Avoid
'I have other offers, so you need to move fast.' That sounds transactional and can damage trust.
