Question

How do you structure a 'valuation overview' slide in the pitch book?

Answer

Standard Football Field layout:

  • Header: 'Implied Equity Value Range' or 'Implied Enterprise Value Range', with a date stamp.
  • Y-axis: valuation methods (typically 5–7 bars top to bottom): 52-week trading range / analyst targets / trading comparables (LTM/NTM) / DCF (perpetuity growth + exit multiple) / precedent transactions / premium-paid analysis.
  • X-axis: equity value or EV range.
  • Bars: each with min–median–max or 25th–75th quartile.
  • Current market price as a vertical line across.
  • 'Selected Reference Range' as a highlighted box (typically a 10–25% wide range that overlaps all methods).
  • Footnotes: methodology summary, key assumptions. Senior standard: the 'Selected Reference Range' should coincide with method A's median and method B's 75th quartile — clean triangulation.
