When do you use percentage of sales instead of the days method?

Use percentage of sales for smaller working-capital lines, limited data, early-stage models, or items not directly tied to COGS / revenue days. The days method is better for AR, inventory, and AP when operational detail matters. Percentage of sales is simpler but can miss changes in collection, inventory, or payment behavior.
