Module IV· Competing Offers & Salary FramingAdvanced
Question

How do you respond to 'What would you do if Goldman made a higher offer?'

Answer

Show that small compensation differences do not drive the decision.

'At this career stage, a small salary difference would not be the deciding factor. I would decide based on team, sector exposure, mentoring, deal experience, and where I believe I can perform best. If the difference were unusually large, I would evaluate it responsibly, but my decision logic is not to maximize first-year compensation.'

It is commercially realistic but not money-driven.

'I would always take the higher offer' or 'Money does not matter at all.' Both sound immature in different ways.
